Why use cloth pads?

Environment. The average woman will throw away more than 10,000 disposable menstrual products in her lifetime. This waste adds to overflowing landfill dumps and clogs sewerways. The earth can not withstand this garbage indefinately. Cloth pads are better for the environment than disposables, as reusing helps to ease the burden and make our world cleaner. Using cloth pads makes a difference and they feel good too!

Body Care & Safety. Disposables made from synthetic materials can often cause sensitivities. Many women experience a reduction in yeast infections when they switch to cloth pads. Cloth pads are soft and will not cause chafing or irritate your skin. Conventional disposables are bleached with chlorine in order to whiten the product. Unfortunately, dioxins are realeased into the environment as a by-products of the bleaching process. Dioxin is the lay term for a family of toxic chemicals. There are 75 different forms of dioxin. These chemicals are not intentionally produced, but result from industrial processes using chlorine, such as pulp and paper and the production of plastics. Dioxins have been linked to skin problems, infertility, birth defects, and cancer.

Are cloth pads sanitary? Yes. Just like your underwear (which you don't throw away after each use) cloth pads can be cleaned & ready for the next use.

Are cloth pads comfortable? Women who use cloth pads find them to be much more comfortable than disposable paper alternatives. They are soft, & not as sticky as disposables & will not irritate your skin.

Will they slip out of place? No. Cloth pads are designed with wings that snap around your underwear. The wings insure that the pad will not slip out of place or leak.

How long do they last? Cloth pads will last for approximately 5 years or more. The average woman will spend around $600 on menstrual products during the span of 5 years. When you purchase cloth you eliminate last minute trips to the store & save $$$ Versitility Cloth pads come with liners that can be removed or added as you need. Add a liner to make your pad thicker, remove to make your pad thiner. Wear & wash Cloth pads are comfortable to wear and easy to wash. Snap your pads into place with your regular underwear & voila! To wash, soak in cold water, then machine wash & dry, or handwash & air dry. ***staining****a wee bit of lemon & vinegar does wonders. When away from home, store your pads in a plastic bag until you are able to wash them.

Cloth pads will last for five years or more if you care gently for them. Most women find that ten pads are enough to last for a cycle. The number of pads you require will vary according to your flow.

Washing Instructions

Cloth pads are simple to use and easy to care for. After using your pads, you can soak them in cold water for one day, then toss them in the wash. If you prefer, you can also wash them by hand. Please do not bleach your pads. For tough stains, a little bit of vinegar or lemon juice goes a long way!
